AGE OF CONSENT

A regional advocacy campaign that sought to mobilise the voices of young people in Southern African countries namely: Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia on the issue of the legal age of consent to access Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) services. Mobilisation was done through social media, digital confessions and on the SexRights website. A position paper was also prepared for legislators and through this campaign the law was consequently amended increasing the legal age of consent to 18 years. This was done as a protectionary measure as a response to high child abuse cases.
